How we hire
We have established processes that create a positive experience for prospective staff. We aim to provide you with the information you need to make informed decisions about career opportunities with us. We also provide with you the opportunity to showcase your expertise and experience.
What do we look for?
To achieve our ambitions for 2025, we are seeking people with a winning mindset, sound judgement, people who can bring new perspectives, life experiences, who are hardworking and have an appetite to drive personal performance.
What are our processes?
Once you have found a role that interests you, take some time to prepare. This is the first opportunity for you to reflect and think how your experiences will enable your success in a role at the University. Try to keep your application concise and targeted to the role and department you are applying for. We prefer a cover letter outlining your reasons for applying and an up-to-date resume.

How long does the process take?
Once you have applied, the application will be reviewed against our key criteria and values. While this process may take time, we aim to contact candidates within a week of the advertising closing date. We will update you on your progress throughout the various stages of the recruitment process via email or phone.
Do you support those with disabilities?
We strive to ensure an inclusive community. This includes supporting candidates who identify as living with a disability through the recruitment process. We can also aim to provide necessary adjustments to support your success.
What is the selection process?
The selection process here will differ based upon the role you have applied for. We may conduct a series of interview questions, request you present or ask you to complete an assessment, however at a minimum you can expect:
- Conversation with a Talent Acquisition team member
- Automated video interview questions
- Behavioural interview with the Manager and Human Resources
- Workplace behaviour ability and psychometric assessments
- Sociability – come along and meet the people you will be working with every day and see where you will be working
We will keep you up-to-date throughout the process, and let you know what to expect at each step.
Will you be conducting background checks?
Yes. This may include a police check, a reference check and a working with children check. These processes will help us to determine your suitability to work for the University.
How long until I hear back about your decision?
This process may take some time, as we like to ensure we are hiring the most appropriate and qualified person for the role. Thank you for your patience.
