A brief history of the Engineering Foundation

The 1980s proved to be a huge growth period for the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology (FEIT) : 1982 marked 100 years since William Kernot was appointed the first Professor of Engineering and 1983 commemorated the centenary of the first Melbourne University engineering degree.

To celebrate these milestones the Engineering Centenary Appeal was launched, with a goal of raising $2.5 million to support the establishment of the Engineering Foundation. Since its inception the Foundation has been committed to building financial support and community engagement for the School.
