Reducing environmental impact

The resources industry has an imperative to minimize its environmental impact. While its products are a major part of the zero-carbon solution, it in turn must not contribute to the problem.

The challenge

Extracting the required minerals and materials requires energy and water, and results in the production of waste (such as solid tailings and gaseous pollutants). The challenge is to both improve the extraction efficiency (so less waste) and to reprocess waste materials.

Our response

Projects are underway in the areas of improved mineral liberation and grinding efficiency, the safe disposal of mineral tailings and the recycling of CO2 from process waste streams.
