Boeing and the University of Melbourne partnering for students' success
Boeing’s presence in Australia is the company’s largest footprint outside the United States, with more than 3,000 employees in 38 locations. Boeing has the broadest portfolio in Australian aerospace, with team members supporting the advanced manufacturing of commercial aircraft composite components, defence systems design and development, modeling and simulation, research and development, support and training, and unmanned systems.
From the start of 2019, Boeing and the University of Melbourne have been proudly partnered in a united effort to strengthen the STEM talent pipeline through a variety of scholarship, financial and in-kind contributions offered to the students at the University.
The University is fortunate enough to already benefit from Boeing’s support in developing our students through internships and on-campus information sessions. The strong relationship between the two organisations has allowed students to receive valuable industry insights during their studies, such as at the recent MSE Industry Series presentation given by two University alumni and Boeing employees.
The University of Melbourne and Boeing both believe strongly in furthering the future of science, technology, engineering and mathematics, something Boeing has now generously contributed to through the provision of several scholarship opportunities.
In addition to two scholarships offered exclusively to female students in the Masters of Engineering (Electrical) and Engineering (Software) designed to increase participation among women in STEM, two further scholarships will be open to all Master of Engineering (Mechanical) and Master of Engineering (Mechatronics) students.
Boeing’s support also extends to extracurricular ventures aimed at maximising diversity and inclusion; ventures including the Victorian Indigenous Engineering Winter School (VIEWS), Girl Power camp and various student clubs and associations.
