Airwallex Excellence in Technology Scholarship

The Airwallex Excellence in Technology Scholarships have been established to support exceptional coursework students enrolled in the School of Computing and Information Systems within the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology.

Airwallex was founded out of a Melbourne cafe by pioneering University of Melbourne alumni; Jack Zhang (2007), Lucy Liu (2010), Max Li (2006), and Xijing Dai (2006). Jack and Airwallex are now supporting the next generation of talented, aspiring and innovative engineers and computer scientists by generously providing high value excellence scholarships.

Eligibility

This scholarship is open to both undergraduate students studying a Bachelor of Science or a Bachelor of Design as well as graduate students enrolled in one of four Masters by coursework courses in the School of Computing and Information Systems within the Faculty of Engineering and Technology.

To be eligible for this scholarship, you need to:

    Eligibility for Undergraduate Students

  • be enrolled in a Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Design at the University of Melbourne
  • be undertaking a Computing and Software Systems major
  • have a WAM of at least H1 (80%) in your current degree
  • have completed at least 100 credit points, and no more than 150 credit points, of study in your currently enrolled program

    Eligibility for Undergraduate Students with a Graduate Degree Package/Confirmed Graduate Study at UoM

  • be currently enrolled in a Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Design with confirmed admission to one of the four Masters courses listed below under 'Eligibility for Graduate Coursework Students'
  • be undertaking a Computing and Software Systems major
  • have a WAM of at least H1 (80%) in your current degree
  • have completed at least 100 credit points of your undergraduate studies
  • have at least 200 credit points remaining in your Graduate Degree Package/confirmed Graduate Study at UoM i.e. 100 points remaining of UG plus 100 points of PG study

    Eligibility for Graduate Coursework Students

  • be enrolled in your first semester of your first year in one of the following courses in the Faculty of Engineering and IT:
    • Master of Information Technology
    • Master of Information Systems
    • Master of Computer Science
    • Master of Software Engineering
  • have completed your undergraduate degree specialising in Computer Science or Information Technology
  • have a WAM of at least 80% or equivalent from your undergraduate degree

Value

Up to eight scholarships, each valued at $30,000 are available. This will be paid across biannual instalments for a period of two years.

Selection criteria

Applications will be assessed on the following criteria:

  • Academic merit
  • Strength of personal statements addressing:
    • your study and career aspirations
    • your passion for technology
    • your understanding of the work of Airwallex, and
    • the impact the scholarship will have on you

Applicants may be requested to attend a brief interview if shortlisted for this scholarship. Interviews, if required, will be held on 9th May 2024.

Conditions

Recipients must be enrolled in at least 25 points each semester and continue to make satisfactory progress for the duration of the scholarship.
