Argyle Scholarship in Engineering
Established through a generous commitment by the Laidlaw Family, the Argyle Scholarship was established to support students from rural or regional Australia studying at the University of Melbourne. This scholarship is available to one Law, Engineering and Education student each year. It provides approximately $5,000 to a talented student who is experiencing financial disadvantage and pursuing an Engineering master. Preference will be given to students from a regional, rural or remote background.
Eligibility
To be eligible for this scholarship, you need to be:
- an Australian Citizen or permanent resident; and
- enrolled in your first semester of one of the nine professional 300-point engineering Master by coursework degrees; and
- experiencing financial need.
Value
In 2023, one award valued at $5,000 is available.
Selection criteria
Applications will be assessed based the following criteria:
- demonstrated financial need
- academic merit
- strength of your personal statement addressing your interest and career aspirations in engineering and the impact the scholarship funds will have for you
Preference will be given to students from rural or regional Australia who have relocated to pursue their studies. ‘Rural or regional’ is an area with a rating of RA2 or higher as defined by the Department of Health’s tool, Health Workforce Locator, using the 2016 ASGS Remoteness Areas filter.
