John Balfour Memorial Scholarship

The John Balfour Memorial Scholarship was founded by donations from Lewis John Balfour, Ella Nerrina Balfour, Phyllis Eyres Read and Beverley Eyres Balfour in memory of the late John Eyres Balfour. John Balfour was a sub-lieutenant of the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve who obtained his Bachelor of Electrical Engineering at the University of Melbourne.

Eligibility

The scholarship is open to students within the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology (FEIT) who are enrolled in the:

  • Master of Engineering
  • Master of Information Systems (1.5 or 2 year program)
  • Master of Information Technology (1.5 or 2 year program)

Preference will be given to men or women who are serving or have served in the Royal Australian Navy, Royal Navy, or the Australian or British Merchant Navy, or are the sons or daughters of men or women who have thus served.

Value

For 2021, a single award of $3,100 is available.
