Peter H Manger Scholarship

University of Melbourne alumnus Peter Manger graduated with a Bachelor of Engineering (Civil Engineering) in 1960. He benefited from scholarships at secondary school, college and University which enabled him to have a successful career and use his talents for the community. This has inspired him to enable the next generation to have similar opportunities at the Faculty of Engineering and IT.

This scholarship supports a Master of Engineering coursework student who is experiencing disadvantage.

Eligibility

To be eligible for this scholarship, you need to:

  • be an Australian citizen
  • be enrolled in your first semester of one of the 300 point engineering Masters coursework degrees
  • demonstrate disadvantage faced or currently facing and the impact this has had on your studies

Value

In 2024, one scholarship valued at approximately $20,000 is available. This will be paid in biannual payments of approximately $5,000.

Selection criteria

Applications will be assessed on the strength of your personal statement addressing the following criteria:

  • any disadvantaged circumstances faced or currently facing and the impact this has had on your studies
  • your interest in your chosen field of engineering
  • your career aspirations; and
  • the impact the scholarship will have for you.

Preference will be given to students who are enrolled in infrastructure, mechanical or electrical engineering
