Thesis Writer

Shut up
Students at Shut up and Write event

Are you waiting for the planets to align before you tackle writing your thesis? Are you waiting for it to all make sense before you start to really focus on writing? The news is that the planets do not ever align, and writing will help you make sense of your analyses – so don't wait anymore, stop procrastinating and commit to our FEIT thesis writing events.

Our Thesis Writer even is an all-day intensive writing event. It provides our GRs with an opportunity to focus on thesis writing by providing a program of short periods of writing punctuated with regular break periods, which help GRs to remain sharp and productive through to 5pm. Many graduate researchers use these events to kick-start their thesis chapters, and finish feeling proud of their achievement. Support staff are on hand and catering is provided to ensure an encouraging, distraction-free environment.

Typically, we encourage our graduate researchers to attend if they are well into their candidature, that is, from the 2-year time point. Why? Participants are encouraged to write results chapters at these events because they are more suited to the writing environment provided, and these graduate researchers are familiar enough with their field’s research language to engage in the writing strategy we promote at the event.

We send out thesis writing event invitations to eligible candidates about a month before our next event, so keep an eye on your University of Melbourne email account.

If you have any questions about how to prepare for the event or whether it suits your current thesis needs, email the graduate research team FEIT-GR-Candidates@unimelb.edu.au

We look forward to seeing you at our next thesis writing event!
