Until further notice, all international travel related to your studies, research or as part of a university activity should be reconsidered and only undertaken where determined as essential. For the purpose of this advice, ‘essential’ relates to travel and associated activities deemed essential for the completion of your studies or research.
The Faculty of Engineering and IT provides a guaranteed $1,500 funding to all graduate researchers for conference travel to present research once during their degree.
To be eligible you must:
- Be post-confirmation
- Be presenting your research at the conference
- Not have completed more than 4 years FTE for PhD, or 2 years FTE for MPhil
This application form will require the following attachments:
- Evidence of acceptance to present your research at the conference
- Eng&IT Conference Travel Scholarship expenditure form
Variation for 2021 due to travel restrictions
Due to current international travel restrictions, funding will be awarded to cover conference fees for attendance at virtual and, as domestic travel becomes available, conferences within Australia.
As these costs are likely to be less than the $1,500 set awarding amount, you are eligible to make multiple applications over time until the $1,500 amount has been awarded. You must still meet all other eligibility criteria, including presenting research at the conference as opposed to mere attendance.
*When travel restrictions ease and international travel becomes possible, this scholarship will revert to its original purpose – once-off funding for travel to an international conference.
Applications are open all year round.
You can expect an outcome of your application within two weeks of submission. Upon approval, funds are paid in the next available university pay cycle.
