Dean's Honours List
The Dean’s Honours List recognises the outstanding academic performance of students enrolled in an Engineering and Information Technology masters by coursework program.
The Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology acknowledge and congratulate the outstanding achievements of students on the Dean's Honours List.
The Dean's Honours List celebrates the significant achievements of Engineering and Information Technology students. These students have achieved results that place them in the top 5% of their cohort. Their diligence, dedication and academic excellence are recognised and celebrated each year at the Spotlight Celebrations.
Eligibility and Criteria
The Faculty’s Dean’s Honours List is compiled annually and comprises of the top 5% of graduate coursework students at every 100 points of post bachelor level subjects completed as part of their graduate coursework degree.
To be considered for the Faculty’s Dean’s Honours List, students must:
- have passed at least 100 points of post-bachelor level subjects (ie above level 3) to qualify for first consideration
- have passed at least another 100 points of post-bachelor level subjects before they can be considered a second or subsequent time
- have a Weighted Average Mark (WAM) of 80 or higher for those post bachelor level subjects
- not have previously been considered for the list at that year level
- not have failed any subjects
Once students a list of the students who meet the criteria are compiled, the final Dean’s Honours List comprises of the top 5% of students for each cohort.
Students who are being included in the Dean’s Honours List will be notified by the end of May.

These are subjects that are above Level 3. For example COMP3002 would be considered a bachelor level subject and COMP90003 would be considered a post bachelor level subject.

No, exemptions, credits and advanced standing are not counted towards the 100 points.

If you have not completed 100 points, unfortunately you cannot be considered for the Dean’s Honours List for that year. For example, if in Year 1 you completed 87.5 points, in Year 2 have completed a total of 175 points, and then in your final semester you have completed 200 points, you will be considered for the Dean’s Honours List following Year 2 and your final semester.

Students are considered for the Dean’s Honours List after every 100 points of post bachelor level subjects.
For example:
- If you completed 100 points in 2024 internship and only taking 3 subjects.
- If you completed only 87.5 points in first year, but not eligible for Year 1 of DHL.
- 300 point students who may have taken 200 or 300 point subjects in Year 1 would not be eligible.
