Hand tools

A wide variety of hand tools are available to help you with a small or quick job. They meet common needs such as hammering, screwing and cutting. Tools available include:

  • Hacksaw (300 mm)
  • Hammer – claw
  • Screwdrivers – flat, Phillips (with or without insulation)
  • Pliers – bull nose and pointy nose
  • Side cutters
  • Shifting spanners (150, 200, 250 mm)
  • Tin snips
  • Magnetic spirit level (180 mm)
  • Tape measure (10 m)
  • Ratcheting combination wrench (15 piece set)
  • Ratchet and socket set (3/8” 56 piece, ¼” 50 piece)
  • Pliers kit (10 piece)

Cordless power tools

A variety of cordless, handheld power tools are available for small or quick jobs. They meet common needs such as drilling, sanding, cutting and grinding. Tools available include:

  • Drill (12 V, 18 V)
  • Rotary multi-tool (12 V, 18 V)
  • Compact heat gun

Laser cutters

The Trotec laser cutters Speedy 100 and Speedy 400 are used to cut or engrave acrylic and other non-metal materials with a high-powered laser light source.

If you’d like to bring in your own materials to be cut, consult with a Telstra Creator Space team member first as some materials, like treated pine, are hazardous when cut with a laser.

Vacuum former

Shape plastic materials with the Formech 508FS vacuum former. A simplified version of thermoforming, you can stretch the plastic onto a single-surface mould.

  • Maximum material thickness: 6 mm

Lockers

Telstra Creator Space has over 90 lockers available for you to store your work-in-progress projects. Most are 0.5 m x 0.5 m in size.

Telstra Creator Space lockers are located on the Ground floor and basement. They are only accessible during opening hours.

Due to the limited number, we encourage you to only book if you need to store your projects here.

Food, drinks, hazardous and personal items must not be stored in the lockers.

How to submit a 3D print

The Markforged Mark Two allows for the precision printing of parts from nylon, with the ability to add different continuous filaments such as carbon fibre to increase strength and stiffness for high-strength prototypes.
