As an offshore geotechnical engineer with extensive collaboration skills, Shiaohuey has been instrumental in the design and build of the Australian Centre for Offshore Wind Energy (ACOWE).
Associate Professor Shiaohuey Chow is a leading expert in geotechnical physical modelling. Her research develops novel site-investigation and foundation solutions for offshore renewable energy applications, earning her multiple international best paper awards. Shiaohuey is also a member of the ISSMGE TC214 on Foundation Engineering for Difficult Soft Soil Conditions, and Secretary of the Australian Geomechanics Society (Victorian Chapter).
Shiaohuey enjoys engaging with the community to share her passion in geotechnical engineering, bringing the Victorian Offshore Wind (VOW) student program to the University of Melbourne.
To support offshore wind workforce development, Shiaohuey developed a new subject in 2023 to introduce offshore wind to her students. CVEN90071 Offshore Wind Geotechnical Engineering is offered as an elective for Master of Engineering students and features guest lectures from industry experts.
