Professor Christophe Gaudin

Director, Oceans Institute, Marine Energy Research Australia

Christophe is an offshore geotechnical engineer and scientist with a focus on supporting and developing marine renewable energy using multidisciplinary approaches.

Christophe joined the University of Western Australia in July 2003, taking on a leadership role in managing and developing the centrifuge facilities, creating in 2016 the National Geotechnical Centrifuge Facilities (NGCF), an internationally recognised physical modelling facility that is servicing the academic community and the international offshore industry. In 2017 he created the Wave Energy Research Centre, now Marine Energy Research Australia, a multidisciplinary research centre championing offshore renewable energy, including offshore wind. Christophe is the Director of the UWA Oceans Institute, an institute gathering over 350 scientists across all things ocean.

Christophe is passionate about all things associated with ocean, and notably in bringing together all stakeholders to address the scientific and social challenges currently faced by our oceans.
