Scanning the campus
Creating a Digital Twin of the University of Melbourne’s iconic locations for virtual Open Day 2021

In partnership with the University of Melbourne’s Campus Planning and Design team, the Centre for Spatial Data Infrastructures and Land Administration (CSDILA) is utilising Digital Twin technology to create virtual tours of the Parkville campus’ iconic locations for Open Day 2021. Project managed by Dr Behzad Rismanchi and Dr Davood Shojaei, two CSDILA students, Ali Asghari and Fatemeh Jahani Chehrehbargh scanned several spaces in the lead up to Open Day in August.
The CSDILA team have been scanning and generating 3D models of selected buildings and laboratories to facilitate the University’s 2021 Virtual Open Day. These models will be used to create a unique and exceptional digital representation of the University’s classrooms, labs, and learning facilities, so that future students, families and wider communities can explore and interact with our campus in Virtual Reality.
