Doreen Thomas Fellowships
In the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology (FEIT), we are dedicated to advancing education and research while fostering a diverse and inclusive academic community. We believe that a diverse Faculty leads to better outcomes.
The Doreen Thomas Fellowships Program is designed to appoint outstanding women and gender-diverse academics seeking a continuing education and research position in FEIT.
Doreen Thomas Fellows will be provided in the initial three years of employment a research-focussed role, to dedicate to the acceleration of research. Following the initial three years, Fellows will transition to an underlying continuing education and research appointment.
The Fellowships celebrate the outstanding career of Professor Doreen Thomas, one of the University’s first female professors in engineering (appointed in 2006), who is known for her significant contributions to mathematics, and electrical and mechanical engineering over four decades.
As the first woman in Victoria to head two University departments (Electrical and Electronic Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering), Professor Thomas is a leading advocate for gender equity in STEM. Her legacy inspires and guides the Fellowship Program, empowering women to pursue impactful careers in engineering and related disciplines, embodying her vision of excellence and diversity in academic research.
Applications are currently closed for the 2024 intake. Please check back for further information on future opportunities. All current vacancies can be viewed on the UoM Careers Page
