Position details

SuniTAFE is a vibrant educational community providing vocational education and training for the people of Loddon Mallee North and beyond. The tertiary landscape is changing rapidly, and the Institute is committed to ensuring that we continue to provide education and training that is relevant to the communities we serve. SuniTAFE has two main campuses at Mildura and Swan Hill, as well as a training farm at Cardross.

The objective of the internship is to complete a literature review to collate industry information in respect to the anticipated transition from traditional horticultural training needs towards the implementation of a modern training regime focused on technology-based solutions in the horticultural sector.

Reporting directly to the Executive Leadership Team (Chief Executive Officer, Chief Operations Officer and Chief Finance Office) within SuniTAFE, the intern will:

  • Review current training offerings within the ag-tech sector;
  • Source opportunities for engagement with local horticultural stakeholders, including growers, suppliers and industry bodies in the Northern Mallee region;
  • Carry out research related tasks such as conducting one-on-one interview process with relevant stakeholders and surveys;
  • Collate and analyse collected data in suitable reporting format;
  • Identify trends, industry needs and perceived skill gaps within data set;
  • Attend relevant meetings as required;
  • Provide high level strategic advice and recommendations in respect to adoption and implementation of ag-tech training resources.

The intern will be located in a regional area and travel will be required; therefore, a current driver’s license is essential. The internship will be based on a flexible-working arrangement and some outside of hours work will be required.

The applicant will be required to have the following:

  • Demonstrated ability with data collection and proven analytical skills;
  • Highly developed written and oral communication skills including attention to detail, research and capacity to prepare reports;
  • Effective self-management skills, including being motivated, ability to manage time effectively and arrange workload priorities.

Preferable qualities of the applicant:

  • General agricultural background;
  • Basic knowledge of horticultural industry within the Mallee region;
  • Degree level qualification in an associated industry.

The successful applicant will be required to provide:

  • A satisfactory criminal record check, which is less than 6 months old;
  • A working with children check; and
  • A COVID-19 digital vaccination certificate with evidence of minimum two vaccination doses.

The SuniTAFE Christmas closure period and public holidays will be observed.
