Harmful and nuisance blue-green algae in water supply and sludge/washwater recovery systems: Investigating accumulation phenomenon and management strategies

Weather events, such as droughts, floods and bushfires, which are becoming more extreme in response to the impact of climate change, in addition to a range of human activities, enhance the underlying conditions that favour the formation and prolonged presence of both harmful and nuisance cyanobacterial (also known as blue-green algae) blooms in Victoria.
