Peer Connect Program Dates
The program will run from Orientation Week until Week 4.
About the Program
Starting university, especially in a new environment, can feel both exciting and overwhelming.
The FEIT Peer Connect Program is designed specifically to connect peer mentees (new students) with a peer mentor (current student) and a small group of fellow first-semester students from the same course.
As a Peer Mentee you will have the opportunity to learn from experienced students, make new friends in your degree, and discover the support and systems available to you.
As a Peer Mentor you have the opportunity to give back to the student community, make new friends, and enhance your employability skills. You can also become eligible for the Melbourne Plus program Community Engagement digital credential.
Peer Connect Program Highlights
For Peer Mentees (New Students)
Peer mentees are students who are new to (commencing) their course with the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology in each semester.
As a peer mentee, you will join a small group of fellow new students from your course and stay connected with them from Orientation Week until Week 4.

“Being part of the Peer Connect Program was such a great experience. As an international student, I wasn’t sure what to expect, but it really helped me settle in and feel at home.
My mentor, Alex, was fantastic, approachable, supportive, and always ready to answer my questions. Our conversations made me feel more confident and comfortable navigating university life.
Meeting other students through the program was also a highlight. It was a wonderful opportunity to connect, share experiences, and build friendships from the very beginning. Overall the program made my first months so much more enjoyable and welcoming."

“What I enjoyed most as a mentor was connecting with new students and seeing their confidence grow each week - it reminded me of how far I’ve come too. We chatted about everything, not just our studies, and really connected as friends!
Having a peer mentor gives you someone friendly to ask questions, share worries, and feel supported. I’d totally recommend joining - it’s such a fun and meaningful way to learn, give back, and make real connections at Uni."

"When I first joined the University, I had to navigate everything on my own.
As a mentor, I’ve been able to break down those barriers for my mentees, helping them overcome those initial hurdles and guiding them to the right resources.
Over time, our connection grew beyond mentoring. We built genuine friendships, often catching up for dinners and continuing to support each other throughout our academic journeys."
