Set to open in 2026, the Fishermans Bend campus will be a vibrant place of large-scale research and project-based learning, creating new opportunities for cross-disciplinary collaboration and partnerships with industry.
Just 5 kilometres from the CBD, located in the heart of the Employment Precinct, industrial-scale facilities will expand the practical capabilities of FEIT and the Faculty of Architecture, Building and Planning.
Students and researchers will collaborate on project-based research with local and international companies in industries such as aerospace, energy, infrastructure, design, built environment, defence, mining, transport and water. Together we will solve global challenges to realise a sustainable and resilient future.

For over 150 years, our School has been the leading provider of engineering and IT education and research in Australia. Our ten-year strategy, FEIT 2025, is our School’s commitment to bring to life the University-wide strategy Growing Esteem and reinforces the University of Melbourne’s position as one of the best in the world. Putting knowledge into action, FEIT is set to open two major new sites within the next five years. The second precinct sits adjacent to the University’s main Parkville campus at the site of the old Royal Women’s Hospital. Our talented and ambitious researchers are solving urgent problems as well as tackling some of our biggest challenges from all angles. Our Research Services team work to develop a culture of research excellence for FEIT . We partner with our researchers to optimise their research impact through delivering research development and engagement support activities.

Academic support services
Supporting our FEIT students from initial query through to graduation, our Academic Support Office has a network of services and experts to make our FEIT student experience as smooth and rewarding as possible. We play an integral role in coordinating onshore and offshore recruitment, managing prospective student enquiries, coordinating an extensive suite of student enrichment opportunities for our coursework and graduate research students, and provide high-level support to the School’s academic employees. We have a variety of roles in our Academic Programs, Future Students, Graduate Research and Student Enrichment teams.

Health, safety and wellbeing
The Health, Safety and Wellbeing of our whole community is fundamental to the work we do at FEIT . We have a clear commitment to a robust and effective OHS management systems that is best practice and equivalent to the companies with whom we work and partner. Our MSE 2025 commitment ensures an on-going investment in our people and precincts which enhances the health safety wellbeing outcome of our learning, teaching and research.

Facilities
Our campuses are a central part of the University and provide bespoke infrastructure and technology for research, teaching, learning and engagement. Our Facilities team works across our historic Parkville campus and is committed to providing technical and safety support needed for the day-to-day operations at FEIT . By working closely with University Services, we ensure maintenance and building works are completed efficiently and effectively.

IT services
Our IT Services team delivers exceptional technology experiences to support FEIT ’s teaching, research and engagement. Our approach is collaborative and innovative to provide solutions that streamline and simplify our technology processes. We play a leading role in supporting the IT needs of employees and students across our campus.

Finance and planning
Our Finance and Performance team will help shape the financial and commercial growth and a sustainable future of the School. We work closely with our academics and leaders to achieve smart commercial solutions to support outcomes for our students and industry partners worldwide. Marketing and Communications

Getting around
Melbourne is well serviced with trains, buses, trams, taxis and ridesharing services. Melbourne's public transport operates with a myki ticket system which is a reusable travel card for trams, trains and buses across Melbourne and regional Victoria. You can visit the Public Transport Victoria website for information on getting around and ticket pricing.
It's also a very easy city to get around by foot or bike, particularly in and around the University's Parkville Campus. We no longer required selection criteria for Professional roles; and many of the academic roles are now removing this requirement also.

How long does the process take?
Once you have applied, the application will be reviewed against our key criteria and values. While this process may take time, we aim to contact candidates within a week of the advertising closing date. We will update you on your progress throughout the various stages of the recruitment process via email or phone.

What is the selection process?
The selection process here will differ based upon the role you have applied for. We may conduct a series of interview questions, request you present or ask you to complete an assessment, additionally the list of stages below gives a good indication of the steps that may be included as part of your selection process.

What does a typical Academic interview process look like?
Our preference is always to meet you in person, thus the final stage of our process will usually be a campus visit where we will fly you to Melbourne to visit our beautiful and historic campus.
Please note we do on occasion make changes to our preferred approach (eg: in response to the global pandemic and travel restrictions) and have the capability and flexibility to move as much of the selection process as necessary to the virtual on-line environment.

- Seminar / presentation (in person coupled with campus visit; or where necessary via Zoom)
