- Participants must be 18+ years old.
- Participants must have a valid email address for communication and study updates.
- Participants must be a valid license holder (minimum of a provisional license).
- Participants must have access to a personal vehicle.
- Participants must have a main place of study/work in or near the test area, or otherwise frequently traverse the test area in their vehicle - Carlton, Fitzroy, Collingwood (post codes 3053, 3065, 3066) area.
- Participants’ must use their personal vehicle in the test area.
- Participants must be available to participate for at least 6 months.
- Participants should drive through the Carlton, Fitzroy, Collingwood (post codes 3053, 3065, 3066) area 1 – 3 days per week on average.

Unfortunately, only individuals who meet all the criteria can participate to ensure the study collects consistent and reliable data.

As a participant, you will:
- Attend an initial workshop to learn about the project and device operation.
- Have a device installed in your vehicle to provide and collect data.
- Receive notifications or alerts through the device during your regular driving.
- Complete occasional surveys about your experience. Renumeration will be provided for successful completion of surveys. More detail on the renumeration can be found in the participant handbook.

You’ll drive as you normally would, but will just need to select you are a driver in the experiment on the device. The only time commitments are attending the kick-off workshop, having the device installed and removed, and completing surveys.

The device will collect data such as speed, position, and interaction with C-ITS alerts, but it will not record video or audio. Your privacy is our priority.

A Cooperative Intelligent Transport System (C-ITS) device will be installed. It is a small unit that communicates with road infrastructure and provides real-time alerts to improve safety.

Data collected includes GPS location, speed, and response to C-ITS messages. All data will be anonymised and stored securely.

The device will display alerts relevant to your location and driving, but it is designed not to distract you. It is your responsibility to remain in full control of the vehicle.
