Human performance research & injury
mitigation engagement for defence

A holistic approach to enhanced human performance.

HumanPRIMED is a community that combines the expertise of research, government and industry to address complex problems in human performance. The University’s Melbourne Defence Enterprise (MDE) and senior researchers have a deep understanding of the Defence environment and priorities.

Partners can leverage the perspectives of technology and health professionals as well as world leading human performance research facilities and tools to stay at the forefront of technology implementation.

A grand challenge

We have set ourselves a challenge to develop a digital human avatar – The Virtual Soldier. It will combine models of cognitive, physical and physiological performance within integrated simulations. These simulations could prepare soldiers for specific scenarios, inform equipment and teaming strategy, and update training modules to mitigate injury.

The workforce of tomorrow

We are building the Defence-centric human performance workforce of the future. Our community of postgraduate students and early career researchers will gain exposure to government and industry bodies, multi-disciplinary co-supervision and real-world defence perspectives.
