"With support from the scholarship, I travelled to Peru to participate in a month-long Wind Turbine Engineering Program with WindAid Institute.
Working alongside students from around the world, I helped design, build, and install a small-scale wind turbine and solar power system for a family living in a remote community without reliable access to electricity.
The experience provided intensive hands-on engineering training, from welding and fabrication to electrical installation and project delivery. Beyond the technical skills, I gained confidence working in unfamiliar environments, collaborating across cultures, and solving real-world challenges.
The most rewarding part was seeing the direct impact of our work on the local community. For the first time, I was able to experience how engineering can create meaningful change in people's lives.

"The Len Stevens Scholarship gave me the opportunity to undertake fieldwork in Bangladesh, where I contributed to studies examining soil, groundwater, and surface water quality.

The month-long experience allowed me to travel across the country, participate in community outreach activities, and engage in discussions about the environmental challenges faced by local communities. The work has since resulted in the publication of a co-authored journal article, with a second article currently under review. Being part of a field team made up of researchers from different institutions was both personally and professionally enriching, and the experience would not have been possible without the award."

"Thanks to the fellowship, I spent two months at the Interactive Intelligent Systems Laboratory at the University of Tokyo, where I collaborated with researchers, developed new international connections, and gained valuable experience working in a world-leading Human-Computer Interaction research environment. I also attended and presented my research at the CHI Conference in Yokohama, where my paper received an Honourable Mention award, placing it among the top 5% of submissions.

The experience strengthened my research skills, expanded my professional network, and gave me the confidence to pursue new collaborations and opportunities on a global stage."

"The Len Stevens Scholarship enabled me to undertake a six-month research collaboration in Canada, working with both Siemens Energy and the University of British Columbia on hydrogen combustion research.

Through this experience, I gained valuable industry and laboratory experience, developed advanced technical skills, and contributed to projects aimed at supporting cleaner energy solutions.

Beyond the research itself, I built international professional networks, collaborated with leading experts in the field, and gained a broader global perspective. The opportunity was a pivotal part of my PhD journey and has helped prepare me for a future career in both academia and industry."
