3D Scanning

Telstra Creator Space makes available two types of 3D hand held scanners, Artec Space Spider and the Artec Leo to assist with prototyping and design applications.

Artec Space Spider

The scanner has the ability to render complex geometry, sharp edges and it is an ideal industrial 3D scanner for high resolution capturing of objects such as moulding parts, PCBs, keys, coins or even organic objects. The scanner is connected to the provided laptop to capture and process data.

Specifications:

  • 3D point accuracy, up to: 0.05 mm
  • Resolution up to: 0.1mm
  • Accuracy over distance: 0.05mm + 0.3mm/m

Artec Space Spider

Artec Leo

Artec Leo is a wireless and fully standalone professional 3D scanner designed to make scanning as easy and effortless as possible. With the new NVIDIA Jetson TX2 processor onboard, 5” HD built-in display and battery, it’s the ultimate all-in-one 3D scanning solution for fast, accurate, and high-quality data capture. Data is stored onto a small sim card and transferred onto the provided laptop for editing.

Specifications:

  • 3D point accuracy, up to: 0.1 mm
  • Resolution up to: 0.2mm
  • Accuracy over distance: 0.1mm + 0.3mm/m

How to book

First time?

If you are a first time user of your preferred 3D scanner please book in for a Design Fabrication Review.  In your request please include what you would like to scan and which scanner type. You will have one on one time with a team member showing you how to utlise it.

Used it before?

If you have used the scanner before and are familiar with  the software,  please send an email to telstra-creatorspace@unimelb.edu.au with the following  information:

  1. Name
  2. Dates and Time you would like to use it
  3. Your project needs

We will contact you to confirm your request.

All scanning is to be completed in Telstra Creator Space during operating hours.
