Eligibility and nominations
Nominations of Kernot Memorial Medal are open to individuals, both internal and external to the university, who have demonstrated significant leadership in advancing the fields of Engineering in Australia within the previous five years.
Nominations can be submitted either as self-nominations or peer-nominations.
Each nomination must be endorsed by an academic member of staff from the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology (FEIT).
Success indicators
The award is bestowed by the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology (FEIT) based on the recommendation of a selection committee. The selection committee will review the nomination materials according to following indicators:

Evidence of significant engineering achievements, such as successful projects, patents, publications, or innovations. Statement of the scope, significance, and impact of these achievements within the relevant field and on the broader engineering community in Australia.

The nominee's professional journey, leadership roles and commitment to technical and professional standards within the engineering field, relative to the opportunities available. Evidence of positions of responsibility, leadership in professional organisations, or contributions to advancing engineering practices and standards. Evidence of certifications, continuous professional development, and a strong adherence to sustainable and inclusive ethical principles and best practices.

The nominee's involvement in community service activities related to engineering. This may include volunteering, mentorship, outreach programs, or initiatives aimed at promoting STEM education and awareness within the engineering community in Australia.

Awards, honours or other forms of recognition the nominee has received for their engineering achievements. Description of the prestige of these accolades and their significance in acknowledging the nominee's contributions to the field of engineering. Evidence of the enduring or long-term impact of the nominee’s work on the engineering community and the broader society.
Develop a nomination
Familiarise yourself with the Award Guidelines, including eligibility, assessment criteria, and submission requirements. Complete the nomination form and prepare required materials.
Submit a nomination
Combine the nomination form, a curriculum vitae, and supporting materials (optional) into one single PDF and submit it to FEIT Engagement team at engit-engagement@unimelb.edu.au by the due date.
