A project team that included University of Melbourne researchers working with ACOWE, the primary goal of this project was to develop evidence-based solutions and improvements to the portal cities of Indonesia and Australia in the areas of major infrastructure projects including project governance, policies, engagement, operations and processes.
Literature investigations and strategic interviews with senior officials and industry players have indicated there are numerous models for financing, investing in new infrastructure as well as risks and challenges faced in the project initiation phase of new portal infrastructure projects in Indonesia and Australia.
This Australia-Indonesia Centre (AIC) Infrastructure Cluster Strategic Research Project has produced an impactful research monograph titled “Infrastructure Investment in Indonesia: A Focus on Ports”, launched by the Special Advisor to the Indonesian Minister of Transport, Prof. Wihana in Jakarta in 2020. The interim project outcomes were also highlighted in “Port Competitiveness and Finance” workshops organised for Indonesian and Melbourne port executives in 2018.
