Laura Simões Camargo

Laura Simões Camargo holds a Bachelor's Degree and a Teaching Degree in Social Sciences from the University of São Paulo (USP), Brazil. She has worked as a researcher both within and beyond academia. In recent years, her research has focused on Public Policies, Education, Ethics, and Artificial Intelligence (AI). Between 2020 and 2024, she was part of the Center for Artificial Intelligence (C4AI) at USP, where she contributed to the Humanities team and served on the Diversity and Inclusion Committee.

At the University of Melbourne, her PhD supervisors are Sarita Rosenstock, Andrew Valentine, and Sally Male, and her thesis focuses on ethical education in Bachelor's Computing programs as a potential approach to prevent AI harm.
