Muqing Guo

Muqing Guo has a background in data science and human–computer interaction, having completed both a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Information Technology at the University of Melbourne. Her teaching experience in robotics and programming for young learners sparked an interest in how technology can shape students’ learning experiences and be effectively used to encourage engagement. Building on this interest, she explored the role of generative artificial intelligence (AI) as an academic support tool for university students in her Master’s research project. This combination of practical teaching experience and academic exploration has informed her current research focus

Muqing commenced her PhD in 2025, supervised by Dr Winn Chow, Dr Arzoo Atiq, Dr Josh Burridge, and Professor Sally Male. Her research investigates the impact of AI on engineering education, with a particular interest in understanding AI dependency and AI’s impact on critical thinking.
