Hydrogen Council Readiness Program

Project title:
Hydrogen Council Readiness Program

Activity information and objectives:
The Mallee Hydrogen Technology Cluster collaborated with the Victorian Hydrogen Hub (VH2) to run a pilot program for local councils, which aimed to increase their understanding of and make informed decisions about advancing hydrogen in their regions.

The Central Victorian Greenhouse Alliance, which has a membership of 13 councils, helped to identify themes for the program. Four councils were selected to take part – Mildura Rural City Council, Swan Hill Rural City Council, Greater City of Bendigo and Ballarat City Council.

The program unpacked the challenges associated with current hydrogen technology and how those challenges could be reframed into opportunities. In addition, participants established networks to enable future collaboration between different councils and with industry. The program also included a visit to Hyzon Motors.
