A 2022 regional summit will explore the latest innovations in horticultural production.

A Mallee Regional Innovation Centre initiative, Growing Smarter in the Mallee will showcase yield estimation, remote sensing, data integration, orchard automation and other next-generation tools.

Attendees will also get the latest insights into how the region can manage sector-wide challenges like supply chain security and climate impacts.

MRIC Chief Executive Rebecca Wells said an exciting program had been planned for the two-day event, including equipment demonstrations, discussions with developers, trade stalls, and speakers the region hasn’t heard from before.

“We’re starting to hear a lot more about innovation on-farm and throughout the supply chain, and in the past you’d have to go outside the region to meet the people leading those developments,” Rebecca said.

“Through Growing Smarter in the Mallee, we’ll facilitate conversations about challenges facing our region, with experts focused on the ‘what’s next’ for horticulture in the Mallee.”

The summit will be held on 5 and 6 May 2022 at the SuniTAFE SMART Farm in Irymple. Be sure to save the date!
