Connecting industry to precision agriculture research

As a newly appointed research fellow at the University of Melbourne, Dr Anne Wang is dedicated to engaging with the horticulture industry and sharing research findings with growers in the regions.

With the completion of her PhD this year, Anne is now employed at the HyperSens Laboratory where she is continuing her research in precision agriculture using remote sensing. She is also contributing to teaching and project work.

Anne worked extensively in the Mallee region during her studies and early career, with support from the Mallee Regional Innovation Centre.

“I would like to contribute more to the region using advanced technology and involving the local community in our research,” Anne said.

“I also want to keep our research visible and have actively been sharing findings and ideas locally, in the regions, and internationally.

“Recently I presented two research updates to growers and industry – at the 2023 Australian Almonds Research and Development Forum in Robinvale, and at the second International Symposium on Precision Management of Orchards and Vineyards in Tatura.

“My presentation topic attracted a great deal of attention and discussion regarding sensing capabilities and local contributions.”
