Dr Darryl Johnson awarded Sustainability Ambassador

MCFP’s Dr Darryl Johnson leads the FEIT Green Impact Team, “The Greengineers”, and they’ve just been recognised at the University of Melbourne 2023 Annual Sustainability Awards, achieving the bronze medal for their efforts. And to top it off, Darryl received the Sustainability Ambassador award for his initiatives throughout the year.

Darryl manages the cytometry node here at the MCFP, and in addition to his role he works extensively on sustainability initiatives within the team and beyond. He actively incorporates sustainability actions in his everyday work, inspiring others to do the same. Darryl has been part of the Greengineers since 2022 and became the team lead in 2023. Initiatives he has championed include:

• Promoting reusable coffee cup usage and water saving
• Promoting cycling, walking, and alternative modes of transport to work
• Advocating for energy saving strategies with our infrastructure, such as minimising the time our instrument monitors/PCs are on when not in use
