CSDILA members presented at the APAC InEight leadership reconnect event
The CSDILA team was invited to present their digital capabilities in the energy sector at the APAC InEight leaders' mid-year reconnect event on July 21st July. InEight is a software engineering company that provides solutions to the construction sector and just recently moved to Melbourne Connect. Dr. Behzad Rismanchi and Dr. Soheil Sabri presented in the Connecting the Renewables Panel and Dr. Davood Shojaei joined them to showcase the digital capabilities later in the afternoon’s InEight visit to CSDILA.
In this event, Dr. Behzad Rismanchi started the presentation by uncovering where energy industry is heading. The challenge is when power generation is moving from a centralised generation to a decentralised distributed generation. In the end, he discussed the opportunities for the STEM community, especially occupations such as Data analysts, Logistic analysts, Risk analysts, and Asset management.
Dr. Soheil Sabri elaborated on the role of Digital Twin to connect different datasets for communicating with government and policymakers. He also explained a composable system architecture that is able to interconnect the energy-related analytical tools, monitoring, and visualisation to support the decentralised distributed power generation. In the end, he explained the role of real-time analytics and 2D, 3D, and 4D (time-based) data available in the spatial digital twins to enable the energy sector for better situational awareness and decision making.
Paul Williams, the director of Mining & Energy of WSP, covered the challenges facing the Australian energy market. He discussed the challenges of decarbonising the energy network. He discussed the future pathways of energy networks as we are moving from traditional coal power energy generation to distributed renewable generations such as solar PV and wind turbines?.
Wes Horwood, Head of Future Energy Projects of CS Energy, uncovered energy capital projects which we are likely to see in the future energy sector. He discussed the disruption impacts on the energy sector and especially CS Energy.
At the end of the event, Dr. Sabri and Dr. Shojaei presented the CSDILA Digital Twin platform, Digital Lab capabilities, and current research and development activities. They also elaborated on the opportunities for industry to utilise digital infrastructure for their projects and manage their assets.
